Non-Profit Social Media
Volunteering is one of my passions. I have noticed that many local charities and non-profits were not taking advantage of the Social Media technology that is freely available. My personal mission…while job hunting for myself, has been to bring a few local organizations into the Social Media limelight.
-
The Key Training Center. 10 days before their annual Run for the Money event, I began to implement a Communication Plan for their Social Presence.
-
I initiated their “Facebook Fan Page” including a donation box to their PayPal account.
-
They gained 72 Fans in a week.
-
They received at least $200 in donations directly from the Facebook page during that week.
-
I took photos at their dinner auction fundraiser and posted them online.
-
I live “streamed” the annual TV Telethon from WYKE (with permission) from my computer.
-
Approximately 37 people shared the telethon live to others around the country who would not otherwise been able to view the 9 hour program.
-
The telethon continues to run on their LiveStream Channel.

Citrus 20/20 is a non profit organization formed in 1995 for the purpose of brainstorming where our county should be in 25 years (The year 2020). Info and public opinion is gathered via Vision Committees to present to the appropriate agencies. I am the Secretary for 2010~2011. I partnered with other talented board members to keep the Facebook page updated with current info and events.
Citrus United Way is my latest venture. Getting ready for their annual Fund Drive, I am pumping up their Social Media as we speak. Already available is their Facebook Fan page. Stop back for more info.
I will continue to volunteer even after I have attained a new employment position. Being involved in helping local charities is vital for community rejeuvenation.
